Scholarships available to Manchester High School students

Common Application Scholarships

Gerold "Doe" Faudree Athletic Scholarship: GPA of 8.25/11 and pursuing a career in coaching and teaching. Selection based on athletic ability, academic performance, leadership skills, evidence of high moral and ethical standards, and financial need.

John Eckert Memorial Educational Scholarship: GPA of 8.0/11, pursuing four-year degree in public education leading to a career as a public school teacher or administrator. Selection based on financial need, academic performance, extra-curricular activities and a statement from the applicant indicating why he/she is pursuing the field of education.

Dick Harvey Memorial Scholarship: Awarded to those who aspire to a career in teaching. Selection based on academic performance, financial need, extra-curricular activities and other aspects of the application.

Robert and Pauline Hoover Scholarship: Selection based on academic performance, community service hours, service organization leadership, and information from the scholarship application.

Kevin M. Jones Memorial Scholarship: Must have been a little brother or sister in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters program in Wabash county. Selection based on financial need, community service, academic performance and work experience.

Paul Thomas Reahard Memorial Scholarship: "B-" GPA average, pursuing a teaching career in the field of Drama, Theater, English or Literature or a career in the performing arts. Selection based on financial need, community service, work experience and church/religious activities.

George W. & Donna Mae Russell Scholarship: "C"GPA average required. Scholarship application information used with financial need to determine eligibility.

V.A. (Viv) Simmons Scholarship: GPA of 8.0/11 required. Requires demonstrated outstanding performance in scholarship, leadership, service and character in community and school life.

Harvey V. Underwood Science Scholarship: GPA of 7.0/11 required. Must be pursuing a four-year degree in life or physical science or science education. Selection based on academic performance-especially in science-financial need, school and community involvement, citenzenship, and character.

Wabash County Society for Crippled Children & Adults Scholarship: GPA of 8.0/11 required. Must have an interest in pursuing an education that supports work with children and adults who have learning disabilities or who are mentally and/or physically disabled. Selection based mainly on academic performance and financial need.

Wabash County Solid Waste Management District Environmental Scholarship: Provided to encourage study and advancement of the environmental education studies field. Financial need along with information from the scholarship application will be considered.

Wabash High School Alumni Scholarship Endowment: GPA of 7.25/11 required. Only awarded in even number years (2008, 2010, etc.) Selection based on financial need, academic ability, written statement and school and community activities.

Wabash High School Class of 1951 Scholarship: Only awarded in odd number years (2009, 2011, etc.) Selection based on financial need along with information from the scholarship application


Other Scholarships

Furel R. Burns Business Scholarship Fund: Recipient chosen by Manchester High School representatives. Awarded to a student excelling in business administration/management and who will pursue college study of the same. See your guidance counselor for due date.

Coryle K. Paulus Athletic Scholarship Fund: Recipient chosen by Manchester High School representatives. Awarded to a student excelling in athletics and planning to pursue college study in physical education/athletics. See your guidance counselor for due date.

Franklin S. Tiede Memorial Endowment Scholarship: There are no geographical limitations on this scholarship. Scholarship is for students between the age of 18 and 25 for the use in the pursuit of a vocational or educational objective beyond high school level, having as its goal the propagation of the Christian faith as set forth in the canonical books of the Old and new Testaments of the Holy Bible.


Lilly Endowment, Inc. Scholarship

Applicants must complete an application specific to THIS scholarship only.

This program covers full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation of up to $800 per year for required books and required equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis, leading to a baccalaureate degree at any accredited Indiana public or private college or university. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Have lived in Wabash County, Indian every semester of junior and senior high school years.
  • Have graduated during the 2007-2008 academic year, but no later than June 30, 2008 from an accredited Wabash County High School.
  • Be accepted by May 5, 2008 to pursue a full time baccalaureate course of study beginning in the fall of 2008.
  • GPA of 8.0/12.0.
  • Selection based on:

  • Exhibits an appreciation of the value of education, and the potential to succeed in college.
  • Exhibits achievement in academics, extra-curricular activities, community service, and /or work.
  • Exhibits good character, maturity, and leadership abilities.
  • Has demonstrated a commitment to improving quality of life in the community through volunteer and service activities.
  • Other considerations include family financial factors and status as a potential first-generation college graduate.
